Red Deer Hunting
This is the classic Kiwi hunting experiance. Red Deer are one of the most versitile and widely hunted game species in New Zealand, with herds that can trace there liniage back to Highland estates in Scotland. We can shape Red deer into almost any kind of hunt , depending on what you are after.
Habbitat for hunting Deer in New Zealand - particularly Red deer varies from accessible valley systems through to more remote high country. This is often where people start there Adventure and can include been based out of remote camps and mustering huts to make the experiance an authentic one.
Difficulty- Moderate, can be scaled up or down to suit you.
Best timing- Year round. The roar runs from around mid March throgh April, and brings a very exciting hunting experiance. Red stags are best targeted throufh the winter, with meat and managment hunting availble year round.
Maximum party size- Red deer hunts are ideally suited for groups of one too two hunters, with a maximum of four people.
Experiance level- Our red deer hunts are perfect for all level of hunter, be you a experianced trophy seeker, someone seeking to harvest wild game for the table, or a first time hunter.
Fallow Deer Hunting
A more technical and rewarding pursuit. Hunting Fallow requires a bit more precision than their Red cousins. The are exceptionally alert, often favoring closer country and give no second chances when spooked. They are cunning and come in a rance of colors. Habbitat varies but they keep close to cover.
Hunting Fallow deer is less about covering ground, and more about getting the basics right- the wind, and keeping your eyes peeled as they can be very hard to spot.
Difficulty- Moderate- more technical than physical
Best timing- Fallow deer can be targeted year round, with Tropy animals best targeted over the Autum and winter months between March to about mid August. The Fallow rut runs from around mid April into March and make for a challenging and exciting hunt for both Bow and Rifle hunters. For those seeking to harvest animals for table hunts are available year round.
Maximum party size- Fallow deer hunts are ideally suited to groups of one too two people , with a maximum of four people.
experiance level- Our Fallow deer hunts are suitable for all level of hunters from experiance through to first timers and can be worked into any combination hunt on other species.
Himalayan Tahr Hunting
High Alpine, Big country, and real challange. Hunting Himalayan Tahr is is one of the defining NewZealand hunting experiences. Steep Ground, long range shooting, and mountainus terrain. This is a hunt where you will truly work for every opertunity to take taht shot.
Tahr hunting sorts you out pretty quickly, its not just about fitness- its about determination, pressure, and being paitent when waiting for a shot on the mountain side.
Difficulty- Moderate to High difficulty, often hunting in rugged steep terrain requiring a decent level of physical fitness (helicopter access options are available for the less physically able).
Best timing- Tahr are best targeted in May, June and July, with Bulls exhibiting the best capes over ths period, and May- June being especially good hunting with the animal Rutting. The Rut makes for an exciting time to hunt and often ties in well for hunters who have already harvested A Buck or Stag, and ties in perfectly with hunting Chamois too.
Maximum party size- Our custom Tahr hunts are ideally suited for a maximum of one to two people.
Experience level- We cater to all levels of experience from novice and first time hunters too seasoned trophy seekers.
Chamois Hunting
Chamois were first introduced to New Zealand in 1907 as a gift from Emperor Franz Joseph the First of Austrea, with two male and four female animals being realeased near Mount Cook. Chamois have legendery eyesight which has eveoled to spot movement at very long distances, this can make them challenging to hunt and they are always on gaurd. They offer rasonable all daytime hunting and like moste game species they are more active in the morning and evening but are Diurnal.
Difficulty- moderate to high difficulty, often hunting steeper country and challenging terrain. (Helicopter access options are available for those less physically able)
Best timing- Chamois are best targeted in the Rut, which runs from about the middle of May into early June. This is also normally before the South Island of New Zealand gets its worst snow falls for the winter, and a Chamois hunt ties in well combined with a Tahr or Fallow Buck.
Maximum party size- Ideally suited to groups of two with a maximum of four.
Experiance level- Chamois Hunts can be tailored to all levels of experience from novice to seasoned professionals
*Others species available include Pacific Feral Goat, Feral Pig, Bennett's Wallaby, and small game hunts. Camping adventures, and bush craft workshops.
How much will it cost
Multi-day custom hunts start from the mid four figure range per person ( NZD), increasing depending on duration, access, and complexity. Hunts requiring helicopter access will sit at the higher end.
